8 Months

8 Months on February 11th,  2014

Weight: 15 pounds 6 ounces (14th percentile)

Photo shoots were easier when Abby couldn't move!  She's much too busy for them now.
Here's a couple of good pictures and a couple of outtakes!

You mean I shouldn't be eating my toes right now?!?

Most of the pictures turned out like this...blurry from movement!

 Happenings from the last month:

We celebrated Christmas (a bit late) with the John Zins' family.  Luke loved giving Abby toys while she was sitting in the highchair.  Can you see her behind all of them?  They are quite the crew!

Scott went to Florida to golf with his high school friends.  Grandma and Grandpa Burkhardt came to visit for the weekend while he was away.  This picture also shows her spiky hair!  There's no taming it down.

Abby still likes to jump and is gearing up for the Olympics!

Abby moves herself around by getting up on all fours, but she pushes backwards and ends up beneath this chair or the couch.

She also manages to get herself into her toy cubes and then can't get out!

Check out the hair!  I assure you it's not static...it's like this EVERYDAY.  It stays flat for about 1 minute after her bath, but as soon as it's dry it sticks straight up.  My hair did this when I was little, too.
(Sure hope daddy didn't want to read this magazine!)

She loves to clap!

Additional Notes:
  • Abby has some great friends at daycare. Ellie and Josephine love baby Abby!  I picked her up from daycare one day and Josephine actually cried because she was leaving.
  • We met baby Sophia Meyer when she was 5 weeks old.  She's such a cutie and has a full head of hair already!
  • Abby is pushing her tummy off the floor and getting into the crawling position.  She pushes herself backwards and gets stuck under the couch and chair!
  • I put Abby to bed on her back, but usually she rolls over to sleep on her tummy.
  • Mommy turned 33.  School was canceled for the 3rd time due to extremely cold temperatures. Kelly Zins came over and we celebrated at Teresa's Mexican Restaurant.  Abby snoozed through dinner.  (School was canceled an additional 2 days throughout the month for more cold days. I've gotten so many bonus days with Abby this winter. Yah!)
  • Quite a while ago, Abby would shake her head no-no if you did it first.  She hasn't done it for a while, but started again. One night, Scott asked her if she wanted to go to bed and she shook her head.  She doesn't know what it means, but it sure is cute.
  • She has added mamamamamamamma to her repertoire.  ; )

Abby's a busy girl!  She loves playing on the floor and has started to roll around.

Loves putting her face super close to mirrors!

Pre- Christmas cookie decorating party at Aunt Denae's house.  Cookies and milk....yum!

Cousins!  We went to church in Moorhead on Christmas Eve and then headed to Marcia and Tim's house.
Auntie Lindsey and Denae - Christmas Day
Must get this bow!
I got the bow and love it! Who needs presents!?!
More bows! Sitting on my present from Grandma and Grandpa Zins.
First hockey stick
Puppy Love
Too darn cute!
With winter break and canceled days of school due to the Polar Vortex, I was blessed to spend 18 days with these two! It was wonderful!
  • Abby caught her first cold over Christmas.  She had such a stuffy nose that it was difficult to get her to drink a bottle.  Then, she developed a cough, too.  It was scary because she's more susceptible to developing pneumonia due to her smaller lungs.  She was able to recover without a visit to the doctor's office.  (I made a few phone calls to the nurses!)
  • Abby qualified to get a Synergis shot during RSV season.  We go to the clinic each month so she can get it.  Hopefully, it will help her fight off respiratory illnesses.  It's around $2,000 a shot (every month) so we're very thankful for great insurance!
  • We spent Christmas Eve in Fargo this year and then headed to St. Cloud.
  • The Kidd family joined us for New Year's Eve.  It was pretty wild!  We made appetizers and had a few beverages.  There were several times we made comments and sounded SO old.  It was fun seeing Cora and we can't wait to meet baby Kidd in June.
  • Abby loves to talk.  We hear "dadadadadadadada" and "yayayayayayaya" often!
